  • They have less maneuverability when it comes to tight spaces
  • Generally, they do not come with retractable electrical cords or HEPA filters
  • They are bulkier so it is hard to use them for cleaning the stairs.

How To Choose The Right Type?

In general, a canister vacuum is preferred if you have to clean lots of bare floors. It is a more versatile choice because it can be used to clean tight, hard-to-reach places under the furniture and even the blinds or upholstery with ease. After all, it is easy to handle and lightweight enough to carry out. Users do not have to push the whole appliance but just the power head. The quietness and good suctions are two big plusses.

On the other hand, an upright vacuum does a much better job with carpet cleaning. The appliance is simple to use as there are fewer attachments to work with; that is why it is cheaper. People who do not like to bend a lot or to drag the vacuum below will prefer the upright type:  they just push these vacuums like lawn mowers.
