In the project: Barco will mainly address the MEDICAL plane of the Chiron reference architecture, focusing on providing better and more user centric visualisation solutions to the Doctors. This requirement will drive Barco contribution to WP1 on system requirements and architecture design. Innovative solutions associated to new hardware and software concepts will then be explored to specifically address high fidelity image rendition (T5.4), quality assurance (T5.5) and accurate positioning (T2.4) for medical displays. Demonstrators will be developed and user tests will be organised in WP7 to evaluate their integration in and contribution to the Chiron system.

Related expertise: The Medical Imaging Division (MID) of Barco develops high-precision medical display systems to bring accuracy and efficiency to a broad range of healthcare disciplines, including radiology, mammography, surgery and clinical review imaging. Barco’s full line of color and grayscale diagnostic displays, display controllers and softcopy Quality Assurance (QA) tools facilitate confident diagnoses while guaranteeing perfect image quality over time and across displays. Barco has been or is still involved in numerous European and regional R&D projects related to healthcare applications, namely ITEA CANTATA, IWT CIMI, IWT MEVIC and IWT P-MELODIE.
